Troon's Open

Home

Welcome to Troon IS Open - a new digital content project for Troon's visitors and residents.

TroonsOpen.com may have been launched in a year when the world's greatest golf tournament returns to the town but it is not intended to focus solely on the Open Championship but instead build a platform for businesses in the town to reinforce that Troon IS Open 52 weeks a year!

For sure the site will have a focus in July that aims to increase awareness of what the town can offer to those visiting Ayrshire for The Open Championship and it will highlight initiatives and offers and be the gateway site for the new Out of Bounds Festival that is being run across the week of the golf.

The message that it is hoped every business can understand and buy into is that Troon IS Open and that it should not be avoided nor bypassed by any perceived issues. The emphasis MUST be on providing compelling reasons to drive increased visitors not only from the golf but the rest of the catchment area to spend time in the town during a unique week for the county.

Out of Bounds has been designed to offer another reason for visitors and locals alike to spend more time in the town and is offering up to fifteen live music and comedy events over a five day period from the Wednesday 17th to the Sunday 21st of July. The events at Troon Concert Hall are being promoted in association with South Ayrshire Council and this support is allowing tickets to remain affordable for all.

The project includes not only Troon's Open website but also a progressive mobile application that allows those in the town to easily search and find local businesses even flagging up real time offers. This app will outlast any temporary event and can continue to provide a valuable resource for businesses, community groups, tourists and locals alike throughout the year.

The digital project and the Out of Bounds event have been launch by Plan B, the team behind the WinterStorm Rock Festival and South Beach Sessions, so is done with a degree of local knowledge and understanding of the visitor.

Importantly, however Troon IS Open is intended to be an open, inclusive and complementary platform for the use and promotion of any business or organisation with Troon at it's heart. It is very much a not for profit venture and is intended to help try to bridge any number of gaps.

This "soft launch" of the website and the new mobile application is just the start of what can grow into a definitive and proactive digital directory of what Troon has to offer.

Businesses, community groups and events will have access to managing their own content. News and information will be provided by multiple open sources and their is no political or social agenda. It is first and foremost a communications platform - sometimes business- to-business, sometimes business-to-consumer.

Hopefully we can suspend a bit of the disbelief that surrounds new initiatives and see that Troon IS Open is indeed a message that can resonate for us all.
